Importance of Professional Development Opportunities

A recent survey from Inman found that of the services offered by a Realtor’s association or MLS, 71% considered professional development opportunities to be the most useful and beneficial. In fact, the usefulness of these opportunities was tied with the general use of the multiple listing service! Real estate professionals understand the importance of keeping up with the newest technology and tools and want to ensure they have the knowledge needed to succeed in today’s competitive industry. In fact, of the individuals who noted that professional development was the most useful service provided by the MLS, 43% specifically cited tech training and support as the most important category of professional development.

According to a survey conducted in October 2015 by Westerberg Consulting on behalf of Move Inc., the top challenge for brokers and agents is getting qualified leads. While this may not come as a surprise,there are several additional items that ranked very high among both brokers and agents on their list of challenges and needs. These include:

Brokers and agents noted that the MLS is the number one place where they look for information about new tools and technology. While the Inman survey found that many real estate professionals feel they don’t necessarily have a choice in whether or not to join a local association, they feel better about paying membership dues if they are receiving useful benefits such as professional development.
